Hockey Games – A Game of Physical Strength and Mental Aggressiveness
Hockey is being loved by more and more people. Nowadays, people are becoming more and more interested in hockey news and the players becoming more and more popular as well. Once they fail to catch hockey games live, they keep themselves updated through hockey news. Watching or playing hockey games has also become one of the bonding activities with family and friends.
Hockey is a game that requires great physical strength. One must be in good physical shape because it forces one to use every muscle in the body. Just like popular sports, hockey is also a game of good mental “calculations”. The demands on two aspects: physical strength and mental aggressiveness are something to seriously prepare for and they are done through the following:
Strict and proper diet
While on training, a player is required to follow a strict program or proper diet and a full night sleep every day. There are certain foods recommended to give the hockey player more energy. Physicians make sure that players understand their recommendations that the supplements should not be eaten close to bedtime. With a good diet, a player will have a better physical capability to play hockey. It is unbecoming for a hockey player to disregard all training regimens and diet recommendations. As long as one plays hockey, he has to have the same spirit and daring week after week.
Training tapes
A hockey player should also take advantage of training programs that prepare him mentally for this aggressive sport. In order to become accustomed to the brutality that is quite prevalent on the ice, training tapes are a good tool to use. Training tapes are very beneficial in minimizing the chance for injury to occur because it teaches the player about the correct way to stand and defend the goal against the opposite team. Training tapes are also used to guide hockey players toward excelling in every position on the ice. Hocking team usually create a video tape library for every player to study various games and watch how other players handle themselves in different situations. Lastly, training tapes are also used to learn the weaknesses of the opposing player’s style of play. Visiting different ice rink is also part of the training program in order to help players become a little more familiar with the venue.
With the above mentioned groundwork, a player can have a nice physical aspect, the basic skills and adequate mental aggressiveness. A good training for hockey will surely benefit players for the game.
Where to Get the Best Hockey News
Hockey is such an addictive sport. We haven’t been longtime fans, and yet we can’t get enough of all things hockey- hockey news, hockey games, hockey apparel, hockey collectibles, souvenirs, mementos and all that! It kind of makes us wonder what the real long time fans are like! Anyway, if you’re like us, you may have started out getting random bits of hockey news and information from equally random sources. The problem with these sources is that sometimes they are inaccurate and give you the wrong piece of news. In other times, these sites don’t only concentrate purely on hockey, and it is not unusual to find ads for 49ers tickets, basketball tickets, baseball tickets, among others. Because we want the latest and most accurate bits of news, we’ve scoured out the net and narrowed our list of where to check. Below are our favorite sources for hockey news and all things hockey!
1. http://www.thehockeynews.com/ – This is the source that we probably check everyday. This website is a spin off or extension of an equally reputable magazine of the same name, and this is why we trust it. They really have everything- news, features, the schedule, stats, videos, standings, even editorial columns and even fantasy hockey! Surely, no hockey fan could want any more!
2. We also like checking http://thehockeywriters.com/ – Their tagline is hockey news and insight and that is exactly what they provide. We prefer it because they organize the teams between east and west, so it somewhat becomes an easier task to follow what is happening to both sides, leading up to the Stanley cup. Another interesting tab that they have is Hockey history, where we also turn to for fun facts and trivia about the game. Also, it must be noted that the way they structure their articles is really informative, easy to read, and beautifully written.
3. And of course, how can we not check http://www.nhl.com/?! It is after all, the official website of the National Hockey League. Out of anyone, they probably have the most updated hockey news and articles. Another thing that we like here is that it’s also a shop where we can shop for tickets. So, we can sort of multi-task- catch up on our news, and get some game tickets at the same time!
Where do you go check for your hockey news? We’d love to know some new sources that we haven’t checked out just yet!
Tips on Improving Your Hockey Game
When trying to be great at something you first have to practice at it. The same goes for hockey. It is a difficult sport and possibly harder then learning baseball. Not only do you have to learn how to balance and maneuver on ice skates – but you also have to learn how to effectively play the game right.
One of the best thing that can help you to improve your game are drills. Drills are the time you use to help practice your technique and to improve on it. Drills can be practicing hitting, flicking or pushing the puck, dribbling, shooting at the goal, or practicing penalty shots. You will get a chance to practice these drills between two players or with the whole team.
Unfortunately some of us need a bit more help. That is when we provide you with the best hockey tips that will make you a better player.
1. Learn from what other and more experienced players do. There’s nothing wrong with going to someone else for advice. Listen to what they have to say and learn from it.
2. Learn from your mistakes. We make mistakes so that we can learn from them not so that we can repeat them over and over again.
3. Use what works and improve it. Sometimes we make shots that we didn’t mean to but they work well. Learn how to improve upon them and keep it.
4. Play by the rules. In order to do this you need to know what the rules are and how to follow them. Don’t be giving your team penalties.
5. Warm up before each game. This will make it easier for you to play the whole game without getting tired early into it. During your warm up make sure that you stretch out your muscles to prevent injuries.
